Article 1 of the Indian Constitution defines the territory of India. It states that India shall be a Union of States and that the territory of India shall comprise the territories of the, the Union territories specified in the First Schedule, and any other territories that may be acquired by India in the future. The First Schedule of the Constitution lists the Union territories of India.
