In the district of Jagityala, a pressing issue came to light that caught the attention of MLC T. Jeevan Reddy. The case involved the use of third-degree methods by the police, which he vehemently believed to be a complete violation of human rights.
In a press conference held at Indira Bhavan in the district center on a sunny Monday afternoon, MLC Jeevan Reddy addressed the gathered media representatives. He expressed his deep concern and disappointment over the application of the third degree in the case of Medak Kadir Khan, stating that such tactics have no place in a society that upholds the principles of human rights.
MLC Jeevan Reddy emphasized that the suspension of the police personnel involved in the Medak Qadir Khan case served as evidence of the severity of Qadir’s unfortunate demise. He called for an immediate investigation in the High Court, presided over by a sitting judge, to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Moreover, MLC Jeevan Reddy insisted that the government should provide financial assistance to the family of the deceased, amounting to Rs 50 lakh, as a means of support and justice in this trying time.
Recognizing the need for accountability and transparency within the police force, MLC Jeevan Reddy advocated for the installation of CC cameras in every police station across the state. This measure, he believed, would ensure that the actions of law enforcement officials are subject to scrutiny and evaluation, thus fostering trust between the police and the society they serve.
In addition to addressing the issue of third-degree methods, MLC Jeevan Reddy took a strong stance against the excessive action taken by the police in obstructing Sharmila’s padayatra, despite the permission granted by the High Court. He condemned such acts, reaffirming the importance of respecting the rights of individuals and allowing peaceful demonstrations.
MLC T. Jeevan Reddy’s press conference shed light on the pressing need to safeguard human rights and hold authorities accountable for their actions. His impassioned speech and demands for justice resonated with the public, sparking discussions and calls for reform in the police system to ensure the protection of human rights for all citizens.
